ETB Elections 2025 - Vacancy - Male Parent Nominee
Each of the 16 Education & Training Board (ETBs) established new Boards in 2024 in accordance with the Education and Training Board (ETB) Act 2013.
There is currently a vacancy for a male parent nominee on the Laois Offaly Education & Training Board (LOETB). NPC is now seeking nominations from each Parents’ Association in an ETB school for a male parent of a child/children registered in their school to go forward for election to the Education and Training Board in your area.
Each school’s Parents’ Association will then be asked to vote for a male parent. Parents’ Associations will not be able to vote for their own candidate, as their nomination of the said candidate is their show of support for same.
Next steps
The following forms must be completed
Please read the following before completing the forms above
Summary of some of the key points on the role of an ETB member
Code of Practice for the Governance of Education and Training Boards
To ensure the nomination process is fully adhered to, each Parents’ Association must return the following:
1. Nomination Form
This must include the Nominees details and their consent to be nominated.
2. Evidence of Support Form
This form must show that the nominee has support for their nomination from at least 75% of your full elected Parents’ Association Committee. Please note consent is required, from the committee members approving, to share their email and/or telephone number with NPC and we will follow up with them to verify approval, to ensure fair procedure.
3. Biography Form
This form will be presented to all of the ETB Parents’ Associations in the relevant ETB areas. Nominees should use this form to outline their capacity and vision for the role. Please note the Nominee may include a head-shot photograph for inclusion if they wish.
Nomination process
All forms should be emailed to the ETB Support Officer Janine Robinson, jrobinson@npc.ie with ETB Board Nomination in the subject box.
Only nominations that have been submitted correctly will be put forward for the election process.
The closing date for nominations is the 30th of August 2025.
Election process
To ensure transparency and accuracy in the voting system, NPC have engaged a third party e-voting company to facilitate the electronic balloting.
Following the nomination process, NPC will forward the biographies (& photos if provided) of all verified nominations to the e-voting company to activate the voting process. Please note that only the name and biography will be issued to the company, all personal contact details will be kept by NPC and will not be shared with any third party.
The e-voting company will create unique links for each Parents’ Association. NPC will forward these to each relevant Parents’ Association. Each Parents’ Association can then vote, choosing from the pool of candidates within their ETB area, excluding their own nominees.
The designated Parents’ Association contact will cast the vote on behalf of the Parents’ Association.
It will be up to each individual Parents’ Association to decide whether the Parents’ Association committee decides on which candidates to vote for, or whether they assign this decision to the contact person for the Parents’ Association submitted to NPC.
All Parents’ Associations will be informed of the voting system with clear instructions on how to take part when the election occurs.
Following the election process, the successful candidates will be forwarded to the relevant ETB for nomination to their Board.
If you need any support or have any questions in relation to this election process pleases email Janine Robinson at jrobinson@npc.ie
Yours sincerely

Please note: Board members will be required to familiarise themselves with the Code of Practice for the Governance of Education and Training Boards which outlines in greater detail the roles and function of the board and its members.
