Parenting courses are provided in the community in Sligo Leitrim and West Cavan by HSE and Tusla, in partnership with the Children and Young People’s Committee, Family Resource Centres and Community and Voluntary groups.

Supporting parents to care confidently and positively for their children is a priority for all the above agencies and groups. The HSE funded and coordinated the training of Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) practitioners in 2018 and the Triple P (positive parenting programme) continues to be rolled out across Sligo and Leitrim This programme is being offered free of charge and it has been met with a very positive response from parents.

The programme is offered in a few different ways: as a once-off large public seminar; small groups meeting over a number of weeks or a once-off small group workshop focused on one specific issue e.g. managing disobedience, bedtime routines. Parenting is busy and challenging and parents tell us that these options take into account the needs and demands of their modern family lives.
