NPC has partnered with a team of researchers at the School of Education in NUI, Galway, to conduct some research regarding families experience of home schooling over the last number of months. We are inviting you to take part in an online survey which asks you to share you and your children’s experiences of “schooling at home” as a result of the closure of school buildings due to COVID-19. We believe that now, when the academic school year has ended is a very good time to look back on peoples experiences of ‘schooling at home’, and to explore your thoughts on how schooling should be in the future.
All individuals in the Republic of Ireland who have a primary or post-primary school-aged child who has been schooled at home as a result of COVID-19 are being invited to share their experiences and views. During the survey, your oldest school-aged child will also be invited to answer a small number of questions on ‘schooling at home’ (if interested and with your agreement). We feel that it is extremely important to listen to the experiences and views of young people. However, please note that you can take part in the study without your child also taking part. Your child will only be able to participate if you provide consent and if they agree to participate.
Under useful downloads you will find two versions of the information sheet for the study: one to read if your oldest school-aged child is currently in primary school; and one to read if your oldest school-aged child is currently in post-primary school. This sheet provides information about what taking part in the study will involve. We want you to know that your survey responses will be treated completely confidentially, we will not be asking you for any information that could identify you or your child and information will be added together with those of hundreds of other parents. This means that it will not be possible for any individual participant to be identified.
