National Parents Council made a submission to Coimisiún na Meán in relation to the development of the Draft Online Safety Code for video sharing platforms in January 2024.

In preparing this submission NPC developed a survey to hear the insights and concerns of parents around the main issues raised in the set of consultation questions. After closely reviewing the Draft Online Safety Code, we asked supplementary questions, which we thought would be particularly relevant to parents. This survey was open from the 24th to the 29th of January 2024.

The Commission's previous request for consultation also informed this submission and formed the basis of a previous submission made by NPC in September 2023. In order to inform the earlier submission NPC surveyed parents and children from the 28th to the 30th of August 2023. We asked for feedback on parents and their children’s experience of consuming video content as well as their views on important issues in the development of the code.
