The National Council for Special Education has asked NPC to share a survey with parents on parents' engagement with Special Educational Needs Organisers (SENOs).
Asking questions such as:
- Do you know who your local SENO is?
- How often do you engage with your SENO?
- Do you feel you receive empathy from your SENO? and more.
A SENO employed by the NCSE plays a crucial function within the framework of special education. SENOs are charged with a variety of responsibilities to ensure that students with special educational needs receive personalised support and services. SENOs work directly within the education sector at primary, post primary and special school levels. This work involves significant interaction with parents, children and young people.
SENO numbers in the NCSE have recently risen from 65 to 120 nationally. The NCSE are working towards defining and standardising the services provided to schools, families and young people to ensure consistency of quality and delivery across Ireland.
As part of this work, the NCSE are seeking insight from parents and schools on their current engagement with SENO staff and to gather their input and feedback of current and future NCSE service.
The NCSE would be very grateful if you could complete the NCSE Parents Questionnaire by 5pm on Friday 25th of October.
The results of this survey will inform a defined set of quality standards of service that all schools and families should expect to receive when they engage with the NCSE.
The survey consists of eleven questions, these include multiple choice and comment boxes and should take a maximum of 10 minutes to complete.
The survey is available through this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/S3LXRB7
Please note that all responses are anonymous. If you wish to discuss the contents of this survey, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Stephanie Kelly (National Coordinator) @ Stephanie.kelly@ncse.ie
