Moving to primary school is an important part of every child’s life and there is a lot that we can do to support them and their families with this part of growing up. Mo Scéal reporting templates, developed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment facilitate the sharing of information on children’s learning and development between preschools, parents/guardians and, with their consent, the relevant primary schools. Mo Scéal means ‘My Story’ and the reporting templates help to tell the story of the child’s interests, strengths and challenges prior to starting junior infants.
This template has been adapted from the ‘Mo Scéal’ transition templates for children moving from preschool to primary school. It aims to assist you in getting to know Ukrainian refugee children who may enrol in your school in the coming months. The form is available in both Ukrainian and Russian. The template asks children to identify what they are interested in and what they would like their teacher to know about them. Children are encouraged to draw pictures; however, children may choose to write a note to their teacher instead. Children are asked to assent to sharing their information with the school.
