Take part in the Department of Education's Primary School Survey

It’s quick, easy and confidential, closing date 16th December 2025

This survey is for parents and guardians of children in primary school or who will enter primary school in the coming years.

You will need your Eircode to do the survey Find your Eircode

The results of the survey will help the Department of Education and Youth plan how they can provide education at primary level. The results will also allow each school to consider, along with their school community, what they need to do to meet parental demand in the future.

The survey asks three main questions:

  1. Would you prefer a co-educational (mixed) or single-sex school?
  2. Would you prefer a religious (denominational) or non-religious (multi-denominational) school?
  3. Would you prefer teaching mainly in English or in Irish?

If you have any questions or problems doing the survey, please email the Department of Education and Youth - schoolsurvey@education.gov.ie
