The Department of Education has launched a public consultation to inform the development of a new policy for Irish-medium education outside of the Gaeltacht.
The development of this policy is being informed by the outcomes of the public consultation and by national and international research. Additionally, a report on current provision of Irish-medium education outside of the Gaeltacht has been published as an important reference point to inform the consultation and policy development process.
The consultation is seeking the views of a wide range of organisations and individuals, and will also include the voices of children and young people, parents and teachers, to ensure their experiences and views inform the policy. The consultation is seeking to include those with a particular interest in the Irish language and in Irish-medium education, but also those who do not regularly engage with the Irish language or Irish-medium education.
The questionnaire, as well as further information on the consultation process, can be accessed at gov.ie/POLG. The questionnaire will be available to complete until 16 January 2023.
Focus groups will also be held in 2023 to further explore the themes that come to the fore in the online consultation and in the research currently underway.
Is féidir teacht ar an gceistneoir, mar aon le tuilleadh eolais faoin bpróiseas comhairliúcháin, ag gov.ie/POLG. Beidh an ceistneoir ar fáil le comhlánú go dtí 16 Eanáir 2023.
Reáchtálfar grúpaí fócais in 2023 freisin chun iniúchadh breise a dhéanamh ar na téamaí a thagann chun tosaigh sa chomhairliúchán ar líne agus sa taighde atá ar bun.
