Aistear is the early childhood curriculum framework for all children from birth to six years and is based on a view of children as competent and confident learners. It supports adults in the provision of appropriately challenging, motivating and enjoyable learning experiences within loving relationships.

In the 11 years since Aistear, the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework was published, there have been many changes. In response, the NCCA are beginning a process to update Aistear.
